BASICS OF DRIVE ENGINEERING
(for students and beginners)

The training is mainly aimed at students or beginners. The training will cover the basic aspects of drive engineering and explain the use of
frequency inverters and the various drives available. In addition, the training will cover the basics of asynchronous motors and control modes.

Target group:
  • Beginners and students
Course objectives:
  • The participant will become familiar with the different drive systems
  • He or she will be made aware of the demands placed on a drive system by various applications
Contents:
  • Describe what a frequency inverter does
  • Explain why inverters are used
  • Describe functions of the three main inverter sections
  • Explain the differences between sine wave and pulse wave signals
  • Describe brake chopper purpose and operation
  • Define a brake resistor’s function
  • List the basic inverter modes of operation
  • Explain the differences between the modes of operation
  • Describe what can be achieved when using a motor feedback device
Requirements:
  • Interest in drive engineering
  • Basic understanding of electronics
